With every year that passes by, conventional resources like coal and fossil fuels converge to a dead end. It is therefore mandatory to shift our focus on new and renewable sources of energy. Furthermore, it is also quite necessary to conserve and preserve our existing assets by judicious use of energy. |

EVENT DESCRIPTION: 1.1 Problem Statement To amend the design of an existing building and make it sustainable and eco friendly. 1.2 Designing Goals The amendments in the building should satisfy the criteria of a sustainable building as: 1.3 Event Details (i) Online Summary Submission Participants have to submit a written summary on or before 4th of September, 2009. This summary will be used to shortlist teams for the competition. Ten teams will be short listed from the total entries. Only shortlisted teams will be eligible to participate in Ecotecture at Noesis 2009.
(ii) Summary Details Energy centre is situated at latitude 23012'43.35" N and longitude 77024'22.70" E. Entrance of this building is facing east. In summary, participants are required to give detailed description of the ways and methods to make this building energy efficient and sustainable. It is also expected that participant will provide all desired information about efficiency in building and cost in the summary. Maximum word limit is 800 words in ms word or pdf format. (iii) Main Event Details An online 'learner guide' will be provided to student after short listing the teams and they are expected to understand it thoroughly. The short-listed teams will be given the tour of energy center on 5th September 2009 in which they will be told about various aspects of the building (position of windows, cooling system, number of storey etc). After that they have to amend the existing design of energy centre in energy and cost efficient way. Teams will be asked to give power point presentation on 6th September in which they will be required to explain their ideas in detail. Decision of judges will be final and binding. 1.4 Judging Criteria Judging will be done on following criteria 1.5 Rules & Regulations (i) General Rules 1. The organizers will reject incomplete, inconsistent or improper documents and designs. Furthermore, the organizers will not return submitted documents and designs.
(ii) Team Specifications A team may consist of a maximum of 3 members. Students from different educational institutes may form a team. (iii) Eligibility All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate. 1.6 Important dates Deadline for online submission: 4th September 2009.
