DIDACTRONICS

Didactronics is a brainchild of the Electronics team of Noesis. The event takes you through the ups and downs, length and breadth of stimulating electronics aspects which promises to give you a feel of the real, tangible electronics. As the name suggests the main purpose of 'Didactronics' is imparting knowledge and it tests you on basis of ability to apply it.

This event is a combo package involving all the streams of electronics and communication.

This is a race for the victory a hunt for design of one of the not so complex yet tricky circuit in the field. Ranging from grand-eyed concepts of digital electronics to sophisticated communication theories, from simple transistors and capacitors to complex circuitry this would be a mind boggling adventurous tour into galaxy of electronics.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

The whole event will be conducted over a period of two days and is divided into 3 rounds as follows.

1.1 Event Details

(i) CircuiTrace

1. This round consists of a race where there are around 5 to 10 checkpoints.
2. At each checkpoint, the participants of each team have to solve some set of problems so they     can proceed to next checkpoint.
3. The first 50 teams to clear all the checkpoints will be given all the components required to     design and implement the desired circuit..
4. Thus all those 50 teams will be required to design and implement the desired circuit only with     the given components.
5. The first 10 teams to design the circuit correctly would qualify for the next round.

(ii) Black Box

1. Each team out of the selected 10 teams will be provided with a new question paper consisting of     around 20 problems from various fields of electronics which will test the conceptual knowledge     of the participants.
2. The participants will have to solve maximum number of problems within 30-40min. of limited     time.
3. After solving the paper we come to main part of the event 'black-box' in which each team will     be provided with a black-box.
4. Black-box consists of a circuit which will not be visible and will be unknown to the participants.     Only input and output pins would be available out of the black-box.
5. With the help of CRO and input and output plots thus obtained, the participants are required to     guess/predict the circuit inside and the parameters of the circuit.
6. The team able to predict the first black-box circuit correctly may get more no. of black-boxes of     higher complexity level.
7. The team able to predict the circuit in the maximum no. of black-boxes within given time will score     more.
8. Then we come to the final part of the round in which only top 5-6 teams will be selected and     will have to give a simple presentation explaining how they arrived to the final conclusion of the     black box which will be judged by our honourable faculty.
9. The final winners will be decided on the basis of cumulative score.
10. In any cases, the decision of the judge shall be final and not to be contested.

1.2 Rules

1. Team should consist of exactly 3 members and should carry their team as well as college Ids.
2. Registration for the event will be on the spot only after you have registered for NOESIS-09 as a     team.
3. Top 10 teams will be selected for day2 on the basis of completion of correct circuit and total     time taken. Tie-ups will be solved on the basis of their total scores.
4. No one is allowed to bring any material that may contain any sort of information on any topic of     electronics and communication.
5. Decision made by the judges shall be final.
